Artist Statement

Every day you are bombarded with information, notifications, deadlines, bills, people, obligations, and the list spirals on. You are overwhelmed, stretched thin, burnt out, and strapped for cash. No time, money, or thoughts to take a break. Your only solace is a dark shower. The only place you can escape to for 15 minutes before your hot water cuts out.

This is the one place you can be completely alone and temporarily protected by a thin piece of fabric from your outside responsibilities. To return to a place that feels so natural and intimate, stripped of material possessions. You are no longer tethered by society, liberated by isolation.

My aim for this installation is to convey an intimate and emotional experience by combining divergent mediums. I want to create a duality that is commonly found in everyday movements. There is calmness and beauty in the simple routine of life.
