Artist Statement

I started art at a young age, surrounded by family and friends that valued art and facilitated my interest and inspiration. My father introduced me to a variety of artists, often designers, that focus on illustration and graphics; this became a huge inspiration to me and my work. Being provided with the knowledge of alternative and edgy designers helped in creating my own style and pushed me into graphic design.

I tend to focus on what I find important to society and culture at that time. I pull from current events in life and tend to make them enjoyable to look at. I use typography and illustration to create designs that can be seen as "cultural artifacts" reflecting commercialism and its relationship with society. In 50 years, marketing and advertisements will look drastically different than they do now. When looking back on these advertisements, they will see what influenced the culture and influenced the buyer. Although my message or product may change, I use knowledge of art history and modern trends to create unique designs that are usually the opposite of simplistic. Today's designs are all about modernism; sleek and simple, while beautiful, it shows the depth of detail. Over time details have been phased out; I love designs that have intricate and full details.

Viewers looking at my work should find the experience fun and enjoyable. I enjoy creating designs for adult products such as beer, liquor, and smoking products. I want my designs to appeal to the "inner child".
