Artist Statement
Through my artwork, I aim to capture visual experiences and evoke emotive responses with every refinement of technical skill. Exploring portraiture primarily, I am constantly inspired by people and want to capture visually, emotionally, and naturally, the way they are, often closely studying anatomy. I have found that moving around my entire adolescence, I have come across many diverse people and cultures that have laid the foundations for who I am today regarding my inspiration. Nature, in its accidental appearances, also holds a special place in my works of art and has relevance to the people I like to portray. That ethereal connection fuels me to strive for the innate beauty in nature I get the honor to recreate.
Seen in my dominantly used mediums of charcoal, graphite, oil paint, and pastels, I hope to illustrate my desire to master the craft of hyperrealism. The portraits I create are not just captured moments of a human; they are, to me, recordings of visual experiences through my progression as an artist. I am happy so long as I am drawing and painting the world around us, celebrating humanity's everyday beauty. Through travel and practice, I will consistently tighten my technical skills.
