ARTIST STATEMENT
Although I have always fought to define my identity as an artist, the thing that connected me to art was that there are no bounds. In a life full of an endless range of emotions and feelings within a society that is shaped by expectation and structure, everyone needs an escape. This was mine. The pieces I create come from those feelings while navigating through the ever-so-complicated life we all face. Initially, I used art as a way of expression and peace of mind on an individualistic level. However, through my artistic journey, I have found that art can have a much more extensive reach. My work emphasizes the system of free flow. I begin with a vision, but along the way, things may change based on the emotion through colorful, surrealistic, or abstract compositions. I intend to depict honest reactions with exaggerated, dream-like appearances to show the depth behind things that words sometimes can't do justice. My pieces begin as personal, but I hope to connect with others and evoke an internal emotional response. I hope to have viewers stop and think when viewing my pieces. I hope to leave an impact on someone, even if for a moment.
