My current body of work derives from my love for my family and friends. I feel as though people associate home with those they choose to surround themselves with. My intent with my figurative paintings is to evoke a sense of home and the complexity of one's personal journey through the world as they are figuring out where they or I belong. My work is meant to be a portrayal of the life experience of the "everyday person". The expansiveness of the work is inevitable to engulf you so that you feel a part of the story as the viewer—the connections that are made from your past, present, and future self. To me, capturing the expression of the figures is a huge component of bringing the work to life. The looks of joy, contentment, and love shine through. Core memories, whether they are from my childhood or now adulthood, are a constant reminder of how far I've come and how far I am meant to go and still in the process of accomplishing who I am.
A journey is never-ending, and my work is never-ending. I hope whoever views my work can perceive the beauty I am trying to portray through my recent figurative work.
