I am interested in illustrating the exciting uncanniness of nature. My sculptural creatures create a sense of discomfort and unease to represent the obscurities and strangeness found within nature and especially the human mind. The recent body of work consists of various ceramic forms and figures that explore life's uniquely strange aspects. I delve into the oddities of nature through color and form exploration and hybridization of figures. The colors of my pieces are reminiscent of clown makeup to purposely create a subconscious connection to an uncomfortable and often disliked thing. I hope the audience will personally experience the individuality and eccentricity of my artwork in a manner that creates a new and obscure understanding of life.
