Artist Statement
Many people think of the beach as a place where they go and spend their vacation, but I see it as a place that inspires me as a designer and allows me to think about the beauty in life. I was trying so hard to find my own "style" until I realized it was at my fingertips the whole time. I believe that anything is possible if one puts in the extra work.
My older brother, Gunner Hughes, is a photographer and has inspired me to shoot my shot after college, and there is another world out there than just living in Ocean City. He travels up and down the East Coast chasing storms and just the thrill of life itself. He has taken photos for Dark Seas, Vans, Sun Bum, Nixon, and many more large companies, inspiring me as a designer.
As a designer, I tend to focus on two different sides of the design. I have recently created logos for clients, and I have been focusing more on the professional side of design by giving them what they want and trying to make their idea come to life. I also tend to focus on unique designs that are more detailed and are inspired by the beach as individual projects.
I have gained clients this past year and would like to display the logos and designs I have created for them in my Senior Art Show. I would also like to display some of the projects that I have created at Salisbury University over the years.
