Artist Statement
My work is an intersection of design and illustration, which is influenced by my background in fine art and my appreciation for careful details and interesting color palettes. I use these elements, along with bold typography and line art, to create works that aim to excite the viewer.
I was determined to have a career in art from a young age. I have explored many mediums throughout the years, from painting and drawing to digital illustration and screen printing. Though the medium varies, my work is tied together by rich color palettes and visually impactful design. I draw inspiration from fantasy worlds, comics, nature, and alternative music to create unique illustrations and designs using both digital and analog media. My experience as a gender non-conforming person informs my character design and love of escapism. I like to illustrate the unknown and the unexpected.
When creating client work, I let my illustration skills shine. In a world increasingly dominated by AI, I can deliver handmade drawings tailored to meet clients’ specifications. I prefer to avoid minimalism, infusing the right amount of detail without overwhelming the message of the design. I am passionate about the fair compensation of artists because the value that is brought to the client is well worth the expense. I believe that the human mind and human hand are irreplaceable. I want my work to underscore the humanity of design as a vehicle to foster communication between the artist, client, and audience.
