As an artist, I enjoy experimenting with color, texture, and patterns in my work. I use heavy line weights throughout my pieces, which function as a border around the figures, helping them stand out from the background. This gives my work a collage-like quality. The representation of self within my pieces is closely tied to the themes I explore, as I focus primarily on the emotional aspects of life. Depicting these emotions through my own experiences serves as a therapeutic process for me.
My main focus is portraiture, where capturing a person’s likeness goes beyond mere reference. I emphasize color representation and uniqueness in my compositions, adding another layer of connection to my work that transcends just the physical and material efforts involved.
This collection of work centers around an overarching theme of growth and the factors that have shaped me into who I am today. Reflecting on my journey evokes a mix of fear and anxiety, alongside gratitude and hope for the present and future. My portrayal of my environment, family members, and myself is viewed through a lens that connects my present self with my inner child and past self. This reflection is illustrated through vivid color usage, multiple perspectives, and distorted textures, enhancing the two-dimensional surfaces of my pieces.
I hope to inspire a sense of childlike wonder and discovery in the viewer, encouraging them to reflect on their own personal growth as they engage with this body of work.
