Emily Hill

My work is inspired by influential artists in the music industry and the legacies they left behind. During their lifetime, these artists all wanted to enact change into the society in which they lived and still influence that change after their death. I explore the concept of death and how it is not as finite as people may think; there is still room for life and growth. Death is something that affects everyone and is something I have struggled with being able to grasp in my own grief. By looking at death in a way as a new beginning rather than an ending, I am able to accept what I have lost and acknowledge the legacy that was left within me. The warm colors and elements of reclaimed nature featured in my work reflect this change in mindset as well as encourage others to think about the legacy they will leave behind.
